Bedouin camping and the Wadi Rum desert

So we headed into the Wadi Rum desert and started the day of with a camel ride. My camel's name was Azul and Jamie's was Arianne.  Jamie was leading the way and his camel... well let's just say... that it had a lot of gas... My camel seemed to have allergies as she kept wiping her nose on Jamie's back pack, my water bottle, (attached to his camel), and his camel's derriere. It was pretty funny and now I can cross off "riding a camel in the desert" from my Fu#! It list.

Itchy nose?

We arrived at the camp and were shown to our tent and given sage tea. After chilling all day in their communal tent, we walked out to watch the sunset and came across a camel racing track where we saw a few camels training. We couldn't believe how big the track was - we could hardly see the other side!

The evening buffet BBQ was such a hoot. Great food, eastern music, dancing with our Bedouin hosts around a big fire where the tea and cardammom coffee brewed. We met two young Swedish ladies - Sarah and Sarah who were great company after everyone else went to bed.  Shabouli, our whacky Bedouin host kept flirting with the Sarah's and was...well, crazy. The four of us took up the hosts offer to sleep outside by the fire under the stars and Shabouli had the cushion beds made with extra blankets in a jiffy.  He took out his laptop and showed the girls his Facebook page. Too funny.  We made up campfire stories, (starring us), as Shabouli smoked his shisha all night.  We think he had a little something extra on there...
THEN! We were woken up by the Bedouin asking us to help them retrieve their camels that had gotten out of the coral....the four of us ran out into the desert, found the camels and rode them back to camp a la Lawrence of Arabia Style under the full moon... Ummm, Right Ladies?

We had a really fun time. If anyone ever comes to Jordan, this is a Must Do!
