OH Canada!
Montreal, Quebec
While home, we took some time to visit one of our favorite Canadian cities, Montreal! Having been in Europe for so long it was nice to have a fresh comparison in our minds. When you visit the old city of Montreal it really feels like a little piece of Europe. The main square down by the old port really reminds me of Prague for some reason.

| Notre Dame cathedral in old Montreal. I know you're dying to know this next fact.... Yes this is where Celine Dion was married. |
| There was a Native festival going on downtown Montreal, so we had the chance to get a pic in with a few Canadian clichés! Now where can I find a horse mounted police officer eating a poutine?! |
| Dy and her Mom providing some impromptu entertainment courtesy of this piano on the sidewalk. |
| A trip to Montreal isn't complete without a trip up Mount Royal...(The cities name sake...Mount Royal...Montreal... get it!?). |
| Ahhh, swinging away and sharing a toast... |
The great Canadian summer back yard party!... With a surprise twist...
Every single Canadian has at least one story they can (or can't) tell about their favorite back yard BBQ summer parties. Because of our relatively short summer, the months of July and August are simply full of outdoor parties, bonfires, BBQs or whatever else you can conjure up as a name for it.
One of the BBQ's we went to was different from any we've been to in the past. I think it was absolutely brilliant. The hosts invited all kinds of friends and family over for their annual summer party. What they didn't tell everyone was that their son was going to get married....right there and then. Their home and property was decorated incredibly for the event. When guests arrived walking down their driveway they had a nicely decorated sign that read "Surprise We are getting married" to inform the guests... Genious idea!

| Even the rain drizzle didn't damper this event! Background thunder during the ceremony only made the nuptials more dramatic. |
| CUPCAKES WITH CANDIED BACON!! BACON!!!!! You too can have cupcakes like this! I know the baker ;-) |
| Wholly solar power!!! My Dad and I came across this house as we were wandering the back roads of rural Eastern Ontario somewhere. I think they'll generate enough for the rest of the province! |
| Rideau river locks around Burrits rapids Ontario. This is about 15 minutes from our home in Kemptville and along one of my favorite motorcycle routes. Our last ride for the month of August. I had to go home and put my bike to sleep for a while... |
It was a good decision to come home for a bit. We got to see family and friends, have a few late summer nights. Now it's back to Montreal for us to hit the skies and continue our global adventures...
