The best advice I can give anyone who wants to visit Pamukkale is...Wear your sunglasses!
It looks like snow, but that's where the similarities end. The
terraces found here are made of carbonate materials left by the water and are filled with thermal waters. You can walk up and down the side of the hill on the flowing waters or Wade on the beautiful travertines.
Oh yeah, you can also post for glamour shots against the shocking white background as many young ladies seem to do here. Here's Jamie's winning pose, sans bikini.
We also visited Cleopatra's personal "fountain of youth" pool in Hierapolis, right beside the white travertines. Everybody who walked in looked at least five years younger when they walked out... we were kicking ourselves for not taking a dip after we left.
On the way home we were given several varying...(maybe even opposite?) directions to the post office. The Turkish people are always very helpful, but not entirely accurate (and sometimes they just want you to ask the next guy down the street :-) ). At least there were always a few stray dogs and cats to keep us company.
We just got off the night bus in Göreme, Cappadocia a few hours
ago and checked on to our room. The hosts here insisted we have breakfast on their terrace with their other guests even though check-in isn't until noon. Have I mentioned that I love their apple tea? We took a walk around town which has several of the"fairy chimney" rock formations and are excited to get hiking in some of the nearby valleys.
